Full course description

Course Description:

This workshop examines best practices on how to design and edit spreadsheets so that your data collection and analysis is more efficient and accurate - useful for financial, organizational, research/lab, and other forms of data!  Topics covered include: spreadsheet layout, using multiple worksheets, table formatting, number formats, named ranges, data validation to enforce consistency, data protection, and report printing.

“The majority of spreadsheets that I come across are set up in ways that make analysis more challenging than it needs to be, and they also do not have mechanisms to enforce data consistency, making analysis even more difficult without first going through the long process of cleaning data. Investing in proper layout and data rules saves substantial time!  Also, how you design a spreadsheet should be driven by how you plan to use the data.”  (Alec Muthig, instructor)

Date/Time: Apr.28, 1:00-4:00 PM
