This workshop examines how to use Excel’s data validation tools to create dropdown lists and apply other rules that will make your data entry (and analysis) easier and more consistent.
Data validation in Excel allows you to create rules to help guide or enforce specific data entry into cells. Use of validation can make data entry much easier (i.e using dropdown menus) and can make your data more consistent, saving time when attempting to analyze your data with pivot tables, formulas, or other tools. Validation rules can also be used to discover problematic data. In this workshop, we will work through multiple exercises, applying validation rules that start simple but get slightly more complex as we go!
*Prerequisites: This is an intermediate-level course. Some experience with Excel is required, including the ability to write simple formulas.
